About

WHAT WE DO

Crying But Capable, a plus-size cosplayer group based out of Orlando, Florida, is dedicated to advocating for diversity and inclusion within the cosplay community.  We believe that the joy of cosplay should be accessible to everyone, irrespective of their background, ethnicity, disability, or body size. At our core, we are driven by the realization that self-expression knows no boundaries, and our collective mission is to challenge stereotypes and redefine cosplay for everyone. Established in 2021, Crying But Capable is a collective of both emerging cosplayers and seasoned veteran cosplayers, boasting years of invaluable experience in the realm of cosplay.

Crying But Capable has made appearances at comic cons such as Atlanta Comic Con, MegaCon Orlando, Fan Expo Chicago, Tampa Bay Comic Con, Florida Supercon, and the iconic New York Comic Con.  Beyond the convention spotlight, we host a variety meetups and online events, to foster a sense of community. In doing so, we create a safe environment where individuals of all backgrounds can come together, forging connections and celebrating the art of cosplay as a powerful medium for self-discovery and self-love. Our collective voice echoes the sentiment that everyone is not only capable but deserving of expressing their creativity through the world of cosplay, breaking down barriers and paving the way for a future where diversity is a priority.

In summary, we are a group of 13 silly goobers that love cosplay and celebrating EVERYONE!

Hello! My name is Taylor and I'm a mess! I've been cosplaying for 10 years and have met some of the most amazing people because of it. Back in 2021, I bullied my friends into doing a panel with me at Megacon Orlando because the need for a community of inclusive cosplayers was strong. Turns out we're all really good at this and now its become one of the most successful and amazing things I've done in my cosplay career. In my spare time I cry over anime, hoard Funko pops, and cut out magazine photos of places I wanna travel.

Welcome foolish mortals-I mean...hello! My name is Kat Maxwell, also known as MobileSuitKat aka Gundam lover extreme. I began cosplaying in 2013 and have somehow managed to keep this train going for 10 years. My favorite cosplays are Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Rose from Titanic, and Usagi from Sailor Moon. In my free time I like to play video games, watch anime or kids shows from way back when, ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT, and watch Titanic for the 1997th time. I'm also, strangely, a Titanic enthusiast, so if you have questions about the wreck, I probably know it.

In my spare time, I work on products for my business and CBC, cookin’ like a chef I’m a 5 star Michelin, and binge watch Bob’s Burgers with my doggos. My favorite cosplay to date is Makima from Chainsaw Man, and my favorite characters are Hange Zoe from Attack on Titan, Nanami Kento from Jujutsu Kaisen, and Bulma from Dragon Ball!

I stand for love, justice, truth, and friendship that is genuine…. Wait, where am I? Oh, hey there! Sorry about that, I was lost for a moment and didn’t know where I was at. I am Fenix, Fenix Fawkes. I have always wanted to cosplay, ever since I was a little girl. I was never given the opportunity, along with I always convinced myself that I couldn’t. Not until I met this group! They got me to cosplay for the first time at MegaCon Orlando 2022 and never want to stop. I enjoy playing games, spending time with my friends and family, and watching anime. The best part now is that not only do I cosplay but my entire family cosplays together. It is one of our favorite past times. My favorite cosplays so far are Pochita from Chainsaw Man, Nobara Kugisaki from Jujutsu Kaisen, and Pan from Dragon Ball GT. Though all my cosplays have a special place in my heart!

Whats up demons its ya boi. I'm Billy a.k.a. hughhughmagoo a.k.a Gregory. I've been Cosplaying for almost 10 years, and yes saying that makes me feel old, being a part of 3 other cosplay groups. I've been all over with Fandoms but my big ones are One Piece, Assassin's Dreed, and dc. One lowly AFO at a point in the venture, I found myself face to face with a group of weird freaking people. It might be because I went to the con with Chris, and after having a conversation with them I was asked a question offered a job and I've been a part of this family ever since.

Amatuer cosplayer and moderator for Crying But Capable. Part-time Twitch streamer playing fighting games like BlazBlue and Under-Night In-Birth. You can usually find them in cosplays from anime or fighting games, or anything Valentinecosplays forced them into at metaphorical gunpoint (the maid outfit is entirely voluntary and is where they peak in power).

Hello guys and gals, gays and theys, as well as anyone in-between! My names Augy and I’ve been cosplaying for only a couple months spread out. My favorite cosplay would have to be my gender-bent Himiko Toga from MHA given it was my first one ever and that holds a special place in my heart. I’m super excited to join everyone in CBC as well as all of you on our journeys through cosplay and self love! Always remember if someone says anything mean to you about your cosplay or appearance, EAT THEM!

Reign

Reign has been doing cosplay for about 3 or more years now. Her first major cosplay was her Senator Amidala. After much success with her amidala, she wanted to do more. Reign had a lot of self doubt about herself and doing cosplay, but when she joined CBC everyone helped her gain the confidence within herself and encouraged her to do her Spider Man and Giyuu. Since having to recently take it easy, she has started creating a future list of cosplay’s she hopes to do, such as… Female Gojo, Baji from Tokyo Revengers, Law from One Piece, Yoruichi Shihouin from Bleach and the list keeps growing. My hope, as with the lovely people on CBC, is to help inspire others. Despite what you like you can make your imagination real and rock it out!

Hello friends!
My name is Mack and I have been cosplaying for five years! My favorite cosplay would have to be Krahe from the anime Princess Tutu. The people in CBC helped me improve this cosplay so it holds a special space in my heart. I believe that even though I have been cosplaying for a long time there is always more to learn and more to improve on! In my spare time I'm either drawing, baking, sewing, working in my local community theater, And listening to my friends info dump about their hyperfixations! (please do! I love hearing what people are passionate about). I'm so excited to be joining the CBC family! I hope that I am able to help inspire others like CBC has inspired me!

Greetings friends and fellow misfits! My name is Mel but I do also respond to Luna as well! I cosplayed for the first time back in 2016 with the encouragement of my friends, however I didn't go down the cosplay rabbit hole until around 2020/2021. My favorite cosplays so far have been Aizawa, Mr. Compress, Ochako Uraraka, as well as Isabel Magnolia from Attack on Titan. In my spare time I'm either watching anime, working on art projects, dancing, baking, making playlists for friends or my OCs, or hanging out with my kitty and doggos. When it comes to cosplay, if you want to do a character you rarely see at conventions I highly encourage it! As someone who hadn't seen many people cosplaying Mr. Compress, it's fun seeing others react to a character they don't see too often! ^-^

Hey there! My name is Kyle and I’m a cosplay dad. I’ve been into cosplaying for about 15 years, but started to get more serious within the last 8-9 years. I have a passion for creating crossovers between iconic comic characters. I love being able to embody the comic characters I grew up reading/watching. I’m also a thrifty cosplayer, I try to challenge myself by taking upcycled and thrift store/goodwill items and creating something awesome! I now share my passions with my two boys and my wife. Together they have helped support and shape me into who I am today: Dadbodcos!

Hewwo! UwU I'm Finn and I'm OLD! I've been cosplaying for around 14 years or so so if it's happened in the community I probably know about it. Picking a favorite cosplay is like picking a favorite child, I just can't do it, but that's probably because each cosplay I make has a piece of me in it. I just started competing in cosplay, too! I'm super passionate about including everyone in all aspects of the hobby, sewing (and crying), and learning new things! If I don't have an answer for something I can probably get you one. ^u^
